The Romanian Basketball Federation (FRB) announced earlier today the eight teams that had qualified for the quarter finals of the Romanian Cup.
These are:
The Romanian Cup |

- CS Energia Rovinari, Cup holders and "Lucky Winners"
- BC Mures Tirgu Mures, "Lucky Losers"
With only 13 teams at the start of the competition, FRB decided on a system that scheduled six matches in the first round, one team, the Lucky Winner being exempted from playing, thus qualifying directly into the quarter finals. These seven teams were to be joined by one of the teams that lost in the six first round encounters, but had the best overall result.
After the six games BC Mures proved to have the best record, with 3 points and -4 goal difference. CSM Oradea also had -4 goal difference, but they lost both their games, thus only had 2 points. U BT Cluj also had 3 points, but they lost the aggregate by 11 points. The rest of the teams all lost both their games.
The quarter final pairings will be set by a draw. The date of the draw will be announced at a later time. The quarter finals are scheduled for the 5th and 9th of January 2015.
